Detached house. C17 and late C18. C17 range: limestone rubble
with dressed stone quoins. C18 range: coursed squared and
dressed limestone. Stone slate roofing to both ranges. Ashlar
stack; stack restored in brick and stack (restored C20) with
dressed quoins. C18 range runs parallel to road with C17 range
set at an angle rear left (north gable end demolished C19 to make
way for railway); 1 1/2 storeys. C18 range; 2 storeys. Two and
3-light stone-mullioned casements to the west front of the C17
range, 2-light casements to the ground floor of the east front,
single 2-light eaves dormer above. Three-windowed roadside front.
to the C18 range lit by 2-light wooden casements with glazing bars
within dressed stone surrounds. Former central doorway (now
blocked) with a window inserted in the blocking. Two-light stone-
mullioned casement in the left gable end. One 2-light and one 3-
light stone-mullioned casement at the rear. C20 plank door
inserted in the right gable end. Axial stack to C17 range.
Gable-end stacks to C18 range. Interior not inspected. Gable
end of early range in process of reconstruction at time of resurvey
- September 1986.
