One of two adjoining cottages. Early C18. Thinly-bedded coursed
limestone with dressed stone quoins; stone slate roofing to main
body; Roman tile to former smithy; stacks restored C20 in squared
and dressed limestone, one restored in ashlar. Plan comprises two
parallel ranges that on the south being of three phases including
the former smithy (now a pottery) with the gable end to the road.
Lean-to with corrugated asbestos roof adjoining the pottery, not of
special interest. Main body: 2 storeys and attic with 1 1/2 storey
extension with cellar and single-storey smithy. Single, 2, 3 and
4-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements some with
stopped hoods and early fastenings; two-light hipped roof dormer.
C20 part-glazed doors to the south-west front. Part-glazed door on
the north. Gable-end stacks to the main body. Off-the-ridge stack
to the former smithy. Interior not inspected.
