Barn. Probably C17. Cruck framed, sandstone rubble, some gritstone quoins.
Former stone slate roof, now stripped. Internal timber framing. 3 bays
with central threshing floor. Cowhouse outshuts to either side of large
central doorway. The left outshut is in the form of an aisle whilst that
to the right is partitioned off by a stone wall. Interior has 4 cruck
pairs, those to the ends embedded in the walling. All roughly formed and
probably halved trunks. Single purlin diagonal-set ridge, some windbraces.
Wall tie beams present in three trusses. Apex detail varies. Mortices in
wall plate and one end tie beam indicate earlier timber infill. Pegged
sockets for harr-hung doors remain, although the west side retains only a
small boarded hatch within the walled-up cart entrance.
