House. Mid C17 with late-C17 and C18 alterations. Slobbered rubble, painted stone
dressings, stone date roof. L-plan. 2 storeys, 5 bays. Entrance left of centre
has chamfered surround, decorated lintel inscribed: S

1693 (Hugh Stackhouse) is
similar to that at Stackhouse Old Hall, Giggleswick (1695) and Lumb Farm, Rathmell
(1702) (q.v); studded 6 panel door. Left-hand ground floor 2-light chamfered window.
To right on ground floor are 4-light double chamfered ovolo mullioned window, and
3-light double chamfered mullioned window. 5 upper floor windows: two 2-light with
recessed chamfered mullions, 3-light double chamfered ovolo mullioned, 2-light flat-
faced mullioned and 3-light double chamfered mullioned. Right-hand fluted rainwater
head in 1770's style. Gable end ridge and right-and left-hand ridge stacks. Rear
right-hand wing contains 4-light chamfered windows with cavetto mullions. Interior:
early C18 dog-leg staircase with turned balusters and moulded handrail. King post
trusses with chamfered principals and trenched purlins. In rear wing are curved
Queen struts.
