GV II
Formerly part of Inn, now house. Late C17 with mid-C18 and Cl9 alterations.
Slobbered squared rubble, stone dressings, slate roof. Lobby entry plan. 2 storeys,
2 bays. Left-hand entrance has mid-C18 eared architrave, 9 panel door. Former
central carriage entrance partly blocked in mid-C18 to form 4-light flat faced
mullioned windows; casements and 8 pane sashes. Plain surround to right-hand ground
floor windows; sashes without glazing bars. 2 upper floor windows: central former
4-light chamfered mullioned now 2-light with only King mullion remaining; casements;
right-hand window has plain surround and casements. All windows have timber hood-
moulds (probably C19). On upper floor to either side of central window and to right
of ground floor central window are 3 small windows all now blocked. Left-hand ridge
and right-hand gable end ridge stacks. Interior: mid-C18 fireplace with moulded
surround, 2-piece segmental arched lintel and fluted imitation keystone; moulded
cornice. Remains of left-hand salt or spice cupboard. This building would appear
to have originated as late C17 stables, which were converted in mid-c18 to form part
of the Inn to the left, now Cravendale (q.v).
