Large town house in terrace. Mid C18 with older wing to rear
probably of mid/late C17. Coursed and dressed rubble stone on
plinth with flush quoins, stone slate roof with moulded wood eaves
fascia, artificial stone slate roof to rear, brick end stack to
right and lateral rear stack. Single front range with rear
extension of 1893 (dated on gable) adjoining single storey older
range, forming L-shape. Two storeys and attic. Five windows, 4-
pane sashes in splayed reveals probably of stone but with raised
cemented architraves. Four similar on ground floor, central wooden
doorcase with steep open dentil pediment on consoles and semi-
circular moulding in tympanum, recessed door of 6 panels, top 2
glazed, lower 4 flush with decorative beaded mouldings, in moulded
wood surround. Four flat-roofed dormers with 4-pane sashes,
grouped as one on left and three on right. Earlier rear wing has
4-light stone mullion window to south and very large arched stone
fireplace.
Interior retains most original beams but boxed in, fine panelled
room to left of hall with Ionic pilasters flanking fireplaces and
egg and dart moulded panels and overmantel, and Adamesque fireplace
in room to right of hall with segmental fluted columns and
elaborately decorated frieze.
