(formerly listed as The Vicarage)
GV II
Large town house, part of former Vicarage. Early C19, possibly by
Richard Pace. Coursed rubble stone with alternating flush quoins,
on plinth, hipped stone slate mansard roof with moulded wood eaves
cornice at both levels, stone end stacks with brick flue to right
and dressed stone flue to left. Single range with small rear
extension also with mansard roof, 2 storeys and attic. Three
windows, triple sashes of 8/12/8 panes to each side and central 16-
pane sash breaking forward slightly with additional set of quoins,
all with flush stone lintel and quoins. Plat band between floors.
Ground floor has Venetian triple sash to each side in similar
surround, central wide doorcase with beaded stone semi-circular
soffit, large decorative radial fanlight with lamp inset, wide door
with sidelights in reeded surround with moulded circular corner
insets, door of 2 leaves each with 3 different decorative fielded
panels, the typical Lechlade feature and thought to be a sign of
Pace's work. Two flat-roofed dormers with 6 panes in moulded
wooden architraves, central segmental pediment with large glazed
round oculus in flush stone surround above central section which
breaks forward.
