Farmhouse. C17 with late C18, mid-C19 and mid-C20 alterations. Timber-
framed with painted brick and rendered infill on rubble base, brick refacing
and replacement walling and plain tiled roofs. Hall and cross-wing plan.
Hall range of three framed bays aligned north-east/south-west, with external
rubble and brick chimney at north-east end. Cross-wing of probably three
framed bays adjoins south-west end. Two storeys. Framing: four panels from
sill to wall-plate. Only two rows survive at first floor level of hall range
and have large straight braces across some lower corners. Collar and tie-beam
trusses with two collars and struts. Roof truss at north-west end of hall has
been altered in such a way as to indicate that the roof has been raised.
North-east front elevation: hall range has C19 casements. There are two 2-
light ground floor windows with cambered heads, and a 3-light and two square
lights on the first floor. Central entrance has a C19 lean-to brick porch
and a ledged and battened door within. Cross-wing gable end has a 2-light C20
casement on both floors and a blocked attic light. In the angle with the hall
range is a partly timber-framed lean-to outshut with a 2-light C20 casement
and also, in its north-west side, a doorway enclosed by a half-glazed porch.
There is a single-storey wing adjoining the north-east end, enclosing the
external chimney and having a 2-light C19 casement and a door in its front
elevation.
