GV II
Ice house, now disused. Probably c.1800. Brick, stone, and earth. Two
chambers: an egg-shaped partly subterranean vessel lined with brick and
approached from the north-west by a brick-vaulted passage raised above
ground level, with outer, intermediate, and inner doorways of stone, all
this covered by a steep earthen mound. A spur of this mound on the
southern side covers another brick vaulted chamber, apparently floored at
ground level, and approached from the south side by a brick vaulted passage
with stone doorways, the outer of which has some evidence of a decorated
architrave. Item is very heavily overgrown with ivy and small trees.
