Farmhouse, now 2 cottages. Probably C17 or earlier; altered. Cruck-framed
with later brick cladding now rendered and painted white, corrugated sheet
roof. Rectangular plan of 3½ bays with staggered partition between the 2
dwellings in the centre. Single storey, with low eaves; No.23 on the left
has a central board door in line with the ridge chimney, a small 2-light
casement to the end ) bay on the left, a 2-light sliding sash with glazing
bars on the right (2nd bay); No.25 on the right has a board door at the
right-hand end, in line with the gable chimney, a small 2-light sliding
sash to the 3rd bay and a larger 3-light sliding sash to the 4th bay, both
with glazing bars. Both gable walls have inserted windows; rear is covered
by various additions, including a link to a modern addition to No.23 (which
is not included in the item); gable of No.23 covered with sheeting like the
roof. Interior: 4 full cruck trusses of light scantling, including one at
the gable end of No.25, and one at the junction with the ½ bay at the left
end of No.23, this ½ bay being the hipped west end of the building (and
formerly axially partitioned); all with curved windbraces below the
purlins; 1st truss lacks the lower part of the rear blade.
