Description

Early 20th century. 3-storey, 5-bay castellated department store. Bull-faced and ashlar sandstone in deep horizontal bands. Modern shop at ground; corbelled parapet.

Centre bay in ashlar, slightly advanced with 2 windows at 1st floor and tripartite window at 2nd, framed panel between monogrammed 'CISF'; crowstepped gable above framed by corbelled and crenellated bartizans and with strapwork panel in gablehead. 4 windows flanking each side at 1st floor and 1 bipartite and 1 tripartite each side at 2nd floor.

Timber casement windows with leaded glass and fixed upper panes; decorative Art Deco motifs to casements at 2nd floor. Grey-green slates. Studio rooflights. 2 polygonal ridge ventilators with louvred panels; red terracotta cans to billeted gablehead stack and clay ridge cresting.
