Description

Early 19th century. 3-storey, 3-bay terraced classical tenement. Painted ashlar. Base course, cill band course at 1st floor, cornice

and blocking course, framing giant pilasters. Corniced and pilastered tenement door at centre, flanked by shops, that to right modern and extended beyond gable end at ground. 3 widely spaced bays at 1st and 2nd floors with regular fenestration.

Timber sash and case windows, plate glass at 1st floor, 12-pane at 2nd floor. Grey slates, cast-iron rooflight. Brick gablehead stacks and ashlar skews.

Statement of Interest

B Group with Nos 1-7 (odd nos) Bank Street. It would appear from the Wood plan that 9-13 were the first of the terraced stretch to 1 Bank Street to be built, the others only erected after 1819.
