Statement of Interest

This western part of Kirkwall was developed in the 18th century, extending as far as High Street and some way along Glaitness Road. Development seems to have been confined to the south side of the street, houses on the other side being built much later. Although altered at ground, Number 14 retains its crowstepped gables, broad corniced stacks, and deep-set openings.
