Description

Alexander Cullen, 1898. 3-storey and attic office building with modern shopfronts to ground floor. Tooled red ashlar, partly painted, slate roof. String course at 1st floor level; moulded wallhead cornice with decorated corbels; corniced stacks. Out-of-character modern window frames. FRONT ELEVATION: keystoned and moulded round-headed doorcase to centre, cornice with sculpted bird motifs, pilastered to outer angles with sculpted lizard and squirrel motifs; tripartite oriel window to 1st and 2nd floor centre with scultped grape and vine corbel panel beneath and raised lettering 'Brandon Chambers' in panel between first and second, below egg-and-dart moulded cill course; tripartite windows to 1st and 2nd floors at left and right, set in full-height panels with nook and mullion shafts, triparttie round-headed arches to top with sculpted grape and vine decoration above; 3 pedimented dormers.
