Description

George Sutherland, 1890. Richardsonian Romanesque.
Single storey L-plan with long 4-bay gabled frontage to
Gordon Street; arched porch and tall 2-stage tower with
pyramidal slated roof at re-entrant angle. Bullfaced rubble;
some Romanesque detailing. Tower with triple round-arched
windows at base; elongated paired round-arched lancets
with angle shafts and angle gargoyles; large porch to SE
with 2 semi-circular headed arched entrances supported on
piers with short angle shafts with stiff leafed capitals.
Advanced S facing bay to W of tower with large round-arched
window with cast-iron tracery as in E gable.
Cable moulding to eaves course; ornate skews with kneelers,
stone finials; decorative glazing; hoodmoulds; battered
base course; slate roof.
Octagonal gate piers; ashlar with pyramidal copes.
