Description

A and W Reid, 1852-54. 1st pointed Gothic. 5-bay
rectangular church orientated N/S. Coursed rubble with
ashlar dressings. 3-stage tower; tooled facetted spire
with lucarnes on alternate faces. Stepped angle
buttresses; entrance under pointed moulded head at
north, small lancets in lower stage, paired belfry
openings in 3rd stage with clock above in each face;
2-light windows on gable with outer buttresses and
crocketted finials. Narrow cusped lancets with
hoodmoulds alternated by buttresses to each flank; slate
roof.
INTERIOR: braced rafter ceiling; U-shaped gallery
supported by slender hexagonal iron columns with plaster
capitals; panelled balustrade with Gothic motif and
painted plaster frieze of entwined leaves and buds.
Later 19th century small church room added to S gable.
