Description

Circa 1880. 4-storey Jacobean corner tenement block with shops at ground floor. Squared and snecked sandstone rubble with contrasting polished ashlar dressings. Cornice above shops; incised eaves course; basket-arched windows, breaking eaves at 3rd floor; raised surrounds and cornices; long and short quoins.

N (WARRENDER PARK ROAD) ELEVATION: 3 altered shopfronts at ground; doorway to tenements with panelled door and plate glass fanlight. 3 bays and semi-circular corner turret above; bipartite windows in bay to outer right. Single windows in remaining bays; shaped pediment to 3rd floor window to centre left. 3 single windows to every floor of corner turret to outer left; central semi-circular and 2 shaped pediments to 3rd floor windows; fishscale conical roof.

E (CHALMERS CRESCENT) ELEVATION: blank gable wall.

S (REAR) ELEVATION: bipartite windows in bay to outer left; single windows in remaining bays.

W ELEVATION: crowstepped gable adjoining Nos 12-16 Warrender Park Road (see separate listing).

4-pane and plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; scrolled shoulders to coped wallhead stacks; corniced mutual stacks; moulded octagonal cans.

INTERIORS: not seen 1990.

Formns continuous irregular terrace with 12-30 (even nos) Warrender Park Road and 22-30 (even nos) Marchmont Crescent.
