Description

4-storey, 6-bay Baronial tenement with shops at ground floor, part of terrace. Squared and snecked sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. Cornice above shops; corbel table at 3rd floor, stepped down to 2nd floor at 4th and 5th bays; chamfered reveals.

E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: shopfronts predominantly altered at grtound floor with cast-iron columns and foliate capitals. Full-height canted windows to outer left and right (4-light), corbelled to square at crowstepped gableheads; square blank tablets inset in gableheads. Advanced tripartite windows in bay to inner left, that at 3rd floor breaking eaves in pedimented and stone finialled dormerhead with inset circular patera. Engaged semi-circular turret bay to left of centre, with bipartite windows, conical roof and cast-iron finial. Single windo ws in remaining bays, those at 3rd floor breaking eaves in stone finialled pedimented dormerheads.

4-pane and plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; corniced and rendered wallhead stack; corniced mutual stacks; moulded cans; cast-iron brattishing between 1st and 2nd bays; beak skewputts.

INTERIORS: not seen 1990.

Forms continuous irregular terrace with 15-21 and 28-30 (inc) Argyle Place, 1-3 (inc) Roseneath Street and 2-8 (even nos) Roseneath Terrace.
