John Baxter of Portobello, circa 1824. 2-storey with basement, 3-bay classical house within short terrace. Polished ashlar, deeply channelled at ground; droved ashlar at basement; rubble to rear. Band course between basement and ground, also ground and 1st floor; cill course to 1st floor; cornice, blocking course.
N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical; 5 ashlar (with concrete repairs) steps with original plain cast-iron handrails to deep-set panelled door in bay to right; plate glass rectangular fanlight above; window at 1st floor. Windows to each floor of remaining bays, window to basement, bay to left.
S (REAR) ELEVATION: not seen fully, 1994; slightly advanced from the rear of No 14; bay to centre blank at ground and 1st floor; door with plate glass rectangular fanlight at bay to left.
Plate glass timber sash and case windows to principal elevation, except 12-pane timber sash and case to basement; 4-pane timber sash and case windows to rear. Grey slate roof; rendered and coped mutual stacks.
INTERIOR: not seen, 1994.
BOUNDARY WALLS: droved and coped to front, formerly with railings.
The house is called Easterbrook and first appears on Wood's map, prior to the addition of No 14. The slight advancement of the rear elevation from the line of No 14 and also the different pitch of the roof would suggest that the date is different from that of its neighbour.
