Hotel and public house. Probably late C17, with mid C18
extension and mid C19 alterations. Coursed rubble return
walls, roughcast to front with stone dressings, ashlar copings
and gabled pantile and part Roman tile roofs with gable end
stone stacks.
PLAN: probable C17 range to right set at right-angles to road
with adjacent double-depth plan C18 range parallel to road;
later, left-hand extension not included.
EXTERIOR: 3-storey; 3-window range. Symmetrical east facade
with central doorway and cornice with blind parapet. All
windows are mid C19 plate-glass sashes in plain stone
surrounds: paired windows to ground and first-floor outer
bays; single lights to centre first floor and second floor.
Doorway with plain pilasters, flat stone hood on brackets and
part-glazed, 2-leaf C19 door.
Probable C17 range to right has plate-glass sash to road front
and 3-light ovolo-moulded mullion window at first-floor level
to west end wall.
INTERIOR: ground-floor right hand room has probable C17
inglenook fireplace.
