Toll-house, now house. Circa 1832, for the Bristol Turnpike
Trust with C20 alterations. Colourwashed render, limestone
dressings, hipped slate roof and central dressed stone stack.
STYLE: Greek Revival.
PLAN: single-depth plan with rear extension and outshut.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys; 3-bay road front, and 2-window north
side. Roadside front with a Greek Doric entablature supported
by 2 fluted half-columns in antis and 2 antae, rendered infill
between; 3 deep recesses to first-floor with blind windows;
oversailing eaves cornice with widely spaced brackets. North
facade has mid C20 small-pane casements within moulded
architraves with sills.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
A very architecturally distinguished example of its type.
