Barn and cowshed. C17 barn, C18 cowshed with C19 link bay.
Barn of weatherboarded timber-frame on stone rubble plinth,
and stone rubble cowshed. Plain-tile roofs. L-shaped plan with
4-framed bay barn, aligned east-west, forming one wing and
5-bay cowshed forming the other.
Barn: former 3-bay threshing barn with extension bay to east.
Front facing south now partly open to loft level. Gable return
and rear weatherboarded. East gable of stone rubble with brick
quoins and apex. Square framing with girding beams, posts,
studs with middle rails, and tension braces. Double
trenched-purlin roof with diagonally-set ridge. West gable-end
truss of jowled posts, straight tie beam, vertical struts,
collar and raking struts. Internal trusses generally twin
raking-strut trusses with straight tie beams, jowled posts,
and both large and small tension braces.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
Cowshed: open bay links with barn with C19 barn doors to rear.
Front side to west with 2 brick segmental arched openings and
simple loft opening. Rear side to east with brick piers and
boarded frame between, and open south gable end, now covered
by C19 and C20 lean-to buildings. Single purlin roof with 3
internal trusses, mostly reused.
