Farmhouse. C18. Red brick front with cogged brick eaves
course, on ashlar plinth, stone rubble elsewhere. Plain-tile
roofs. Projecting stone gable-end stacks to front range with
brick upper shafts. L-shaped plan of front range to south with
large rear wing with continuous lean-to on west side.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, attic and cellar. South front is
2-storey, 3-window range of timber 2-mullion and transom
windows with various casement lights and segmental-arched
lintels. Central 4-centred door with ashlar surround: capitals
and plain pilasters with chamfered inner arrises, cornice, 4
stone steps with plain ramped parapet flanking walls.
4-panelled plain oak door with cambered head over Gothic-style
glazed top panels. Lean-to end wall to left with one 2-light
casement to each storey. Left return: to right of central
stack is 2-light casement with top lights. Lower floors and
west side of rear wing covered by tiled lean-to former
malthouse with basement, and various oak-framed window
openings and plain boarded door. Right return: to right of
central stack is leaded 2-light casement with top lights and
brick segmental arch to attic, and barred cellar opening. Rear
wing east side: 2-storey, 2-window range of timber 2-mullion
and transom windows with brick segmental arches with the lower
right window location partly masked by projecting
single-storey brick and tile wing. To left are brick one- and
2-storey lobby extensions. Single dormer with 2-light partly
leaded casement. Rear wing gable end: 2-light attic casement,
ground-floor 2-light casement partly built-over by
single-storey tile-roofed brick and stone pigsty.
