Drinking trough and fountain

GV II

Drinking trough and fountain set into revetment at foot of
Binton Hill. 1868-70. Dressed stone with brick and ashlar
dressings. Elliptical-headed recess with brick and stone arch
and key block with inscription: ERECTED/ 1868/ W J. Stone
trough and metal lion's head to pipe above. Coped gable
supports panel with swan's neck pediment and inscription: 1870
and John ch 4, vv 13-14. Small recess to left probably a dog
bowl.
