SP 6740 6551

Planting stone. Early C17. Limestone ashlar. Rectangular block on plinth
with inscription, "This wood was planted by Sir John Spencer Knight father of
Robert Lord Spencer in the year of our Lord 1589" has Spencer coat of arms
above. Enclosed by railings with spikes. Errected after 1603 when title of
Baron was conferred.
