Datestone. Early C17. Limestone ashlar. Rectangular block on plinth with
inscription 'This wood was planted by Sir John Spencer Knight, Grandfather
of Robert Lord Spencer in the years of our Lord 1567 and 1568 has Spencer
arms above. Enclosed by railings with spikes. Erected after title of Baron
conferred in 1603.
