House, 1697, altered. Sandstone rubble with stone slate roof. 2 storeys with
attic, 3 bays. Windows sashed with no glazing bars and plain stone surrounds,
except for a 2-light rebated and chamfered mullioned window in the central bay
on the 1st floor. At the right on the ground floor is a one-light fire
window. The door, under a stone porch in the central bay, has a cyma-moulded
surround with battlemented lintel inscribed: '1697 CHA'. End chimneys. At
the right is a lower extension having one bay with a modern window with plain
stone surround on each floor. To the left are 2 one-light chamfered windows,
one above the other at intermediate levels. Chimney on right-hand gable of
extension. At the rear are rebated and chamfered mullioned windows of 2 and 3
lights. Interior not accessible at time of survey, but has evidence for a
firehood including timber corbels, chamfered main joists with pyramid stops,
and cruck purlins re-used as roof principals.
