House (formerly known as Stanhill House), dated 1748, but remodelled probably
c.1840. Coursed rubble with quoins, later sandstone dressings, tile roof
with gable chimneys. Double-pile 3-bay plan. Two storeys, almost symmetrical;
remodelling in Gothic style: in centre, large 2-storey gabled porch has
flanking crenellated turrets, Tudor-arched doorway, 2-light window with a
small pediment on the hoodmould, and in the apex a large stone with incised
panel lettered G : H (= George Haworth);

2 windows each floor, all square, with 3 arched lights,high transoms, and
hoodmoulds. History: home of C19 popular novelist, William Westall.
