House. C16, altered C17, restored mid-C20. Timber-framed with rendered
infill on limestone rubble base; thatched roof, half-hipped at south end.
Limestone rubble chimney with two brick stacks to front of ridge and brick
stack at southern end of ridge. Four framed bays aligned north/south with
large chimney situated immediately north of southernmost bay. Single storey
and attic with dormers. Framing: mainly two or three panels from sill to
wall-plate, short straight braces in some upper corners, collar and tie-beam
truss visible at north end with two collars, four main struts to lower collar
and rendered above lower collar with framing painted in. East front elevation:
windows are all C20 leaded casements and of an irregular arrangement with two
3-light and three 2-light windows and also a rectangular light on the ground
floor. Above are three eyebrow dormers, one has a blocked window, one has a
2-light window, and one is very wide and has three 2-light windows (two of
which are paired). The main entrance is probably in its original situation
to right of centre and has a thatched hipped-roofed porch on timber posts and
a C20 door. Attic lights in gable ends. Interior: central former hall has
large fireplace and cross-beamed ceiling. C20 lean-to additions at rear.
