adjoining to rear

GV II

Farmhouse and threshing barn adjoining to rear. 1802 inscribed on tie beam
in barn. Brick (in Flemish bond to front of house). Concrete tile roofs.
L-shaped on plan: 3-room front with entrance hall to left, barn to rear.
2 storeys, 4 bays: 3-bay symmetrical front with single bay set back to
right. Doorcase with channelled pilasters and fluted brackets supporting
plain entablature and shallow hood; 6-panel door and plain overlight in
panelled reveal. 16-pane sashes in reveals with channelled and keyed stucco
cambered arches and projecting cills; narrower 12-pane sash above entrance.
Plain wooden eaves board. Hipped roof with later rebuilt axial stacks.
Returns have similar sashes and blind dummy window panels. Barn to rear:
2 storeys, 4 internal bays. Wide C20 sliding door replacing cart entrance
with 2 blocked ventilator slits to either side; 3 rectangular hatches and
7 slits above, stepped and cogged brick eaves cornice; brick coped and
tumbled gable to right.
