House. Early C19. Brick with pantile roof. L-shaped on plan, with 2-room
central entrance hall front, 2-room rear wing and outshut in angle. 2
storeys, 3 bays; symmetrical steps to 6-fielded-panel door (top 2 panels
glazed) and blind radial fanlight in arched reveal; beaded wooden surround
with cornice and flat hood. Fire insurance company plaque above. 16-pane
ground floor sashes in flush wood architraves with stucco cambered arches
and projecting cills. Similar flush sashes to first floor, with
12-pane sash above entrance. Wooden gutter on paired brackets. Brick coped
and tumbled gables. Later rebuilt end stacks. Left return, facing North
Street, has recessed 6-fielded-panel door and 5-pane overlight under
segmental arch, flanked by recessed half-glazed panelled door to right in
segmental-headed architrave and 16-pane flush sashs, to left under stucco
flat arch; small casement with glazing bars to left end. 16-pane first
floor sash with lintel at eaves level. Roof hipped to left. Axial stack.
Two 4-pane sashes in flush wooden architraves to right return; 12-pane
sliding sashes and 16-pane hung sashes to rear beneath segmental brick
arches. Interior: moulded cornice to entrance hall, round-headed arch to
stairhall with reeded reveal; open well staircase with closed string, ramped
handrail and slender column balusters and newels; 6-beaded-panel doors in
architraves.
