GV II

House. c1800 with gable and roof of 1984. Brick with pantile roof. Plan:
double-depth with entrance hall to left and stairhall between front and rear
rooms; 2-room kitchen and, servants' accommodation to left. 2 storeys with
attic, 3 bays, with slightly projecting central section; single storey and
attic 3-bay extension to left. Stone steps to doorcase with reeded
pilasters, fluted brackets, plain entablature and open dentilled pediment;
6-fielded-panel door and radial fanlight in panelled reveal. Arched cast-
iron bootscraper to right. 12-pane sashes in reveals to right with painted
rubbed brick cambered arches and stucco cills. Similar smaller first floor
windows with central window painted over. C20 gable and lateral stack to
right. Section to left: two C20 casements and inserted garage door to left
end. Interior: arch to stairhall with pilasters and dentilled cornice; open
well staircase with ramped and wreathed handrail, column newels and reeded
balusters; good Adam-style chimney pieces with composition ornament to
ground floor rear and first floor rooms; panelled window shutters and 6-
fielded-panel doors in architraves throughout.
