Draycott Farmhouse

II


Two dwellings, formerly farmhouse. Early C17. Squared rubble, concrete tile roof,
but extension right brick with pantile roof, and stair turret gabled stone slate.
Long block with 2-storey porch off-centre, right, and modern extension back left;
ashlar stacks with moulded cappings, double to left gable, single to centre and right
gable. Two storeys and attic, 4-windowed, 2-light modern casements, but 3-light
ground floor left, and single light at both levels immediately right of porch; single
light over porch doorway; all these with stopped drip and deep stooled cills. Small
fixed lights to porch cheeks ground floor; 4-panel painted door under heavy 'Tudor'
head. To gable, left, single light ground floor, right of fire, 2-light over, and to
attic two very small fixed lights with flush surrounds; on back elevation similar
small light top floor, extreme left. Interior: cross passage, main open fire with
bressumer to left gable, ground floor, later stair in original half-cylinder turret;
fine broad plank door, formerly at end of cross passage, now reset to give access to
back wing.
