Farmhouse, C17. Squared rubble, concrete tile roof. L-plan with gabled wing, right
and blocked former entry in internal corner, large external stack with saddle-back
connection to roof, double ashlar shafts and moulded capping, right and small brick
gable stack, left. At back of gabled wing small 2-storey extension, function not
clear. Two storeys and attic: elevation to road, one-windowed 3-light casements to
wood lintols, and small extra light, right possibly replacing former doorway; door
now far left blank, in heavy frame. On return wall two blocked openings, then to
gable 2-light over 4-light over 5-light casements to wood lintols, ground floor window
with transome, all these in wood: the 4-light window was probably originally 5-light
also. At back, various mullioned windows, including 4-light with ovolo-mould
mullions, and small fixed light with chamfered stone surround.
Interior much modified: newel stair to first floor only, deep stopped ovolo mould
ground floor beams, heavy roof structure with high collar and tie, no struts, two
purlins, and one large blocked opening to back gable (at extension). One first floor
door in very heavy chamfered frame and straight-sided pointed top.
