Alcove and attached wall north
west of Owlcotes Farmhouse

Alcove and wall about four yards in length. Late C16, the only surviving fragment
from an important house by Robert Smythson. Coursed rubble sandstone and sandstone
dressings. Rubblestone wall with rounded copings. The alcove forms a seat and
has a moulded semi-circular arch, projecting impost band and pilasters with sunk
panels. It must have formed part of the garden walls.
