Stable block, now six cottages, stables and coach-houses. Late C18. Coursed
squared sandstone, brick and sandstone ashlar. Hipped slate roofs with four stone
ridge stacks and four brick ridge stacks. Two storeys. Four ranges around a
courtyard. Main elevation of seven bays with broad gabled centre bay with
pedimented gable. Carriage arch with rusticated jambs and stone voussoirs. Flanked
on each side by three 2-light windows with chamfered mullions and projecting voussoirs.
Six later windows above with wooden casements. South elevation of eight bays with
irregularly placed casement windows. West elevation with various 2-light mullioned
windows. North elevation with irregular fenestration, mainly with sashes. Cobbled
courtyard within. Internal elevations irregular, with some 2-light mullion windows.
West elevation with three segmental arched carriage entrances with double doors.
West wall mostly brick. Built as the stable block to Sutton Scarsdale Hall.
