Hack House Farm House
II
Farmhouse. Early C17 but now of C20 external appearance. Whitened
roughcast and brickwork with machine tile roof. 2 storeys and attic,
3 bays. A later 3-bay wing (north) completes a "T" shaped plan. Half
glazed 4-panel door, fronted by pitched-roof porch with turned
baluster side rails, shaped struts to head and shaped barge board.
Flush 3-light casements with glazing bars. Chimneys rebuilt in blue
bricks including a massive central stack. There is an oak boarded
door, on strap hinges, on the west side of the house.
Interior: Ovolo-moulded beams and exposed ceiling joists. There is a
large ovolo moulded inglenook beam. At first floor level there are
ovolo moulded and exposed ceiling joists, in three rooms, also an
exposed wallplate which has dowel holes which indicate that the walls
were originally of small framing.
