Canal lock, circa 1826 (consultant T.Telford). Blue bricks, in
English Bond, and sandstone with metal and wood gates. Lower gates of
timber with wooden beams, upper gate metal with wooden beam. Approach
wall copings and lock-side copings mainly in sandstone but some
replacements in concrete. Area round lower lock gate winding gear and
sloping tow path in red engineering bricks.
