Churchyard)
House, former shop. Late C15 and mid C16. Timber framed and plastered with
some old chevron pargetting on west wall to churchyard. Gabled peg tile roofs.
Composed of 2 crosswing-like structures of different builds at right angles to
one another, each having a dragon beam and posts at the exposed corners. The
jettied east elevation has an early C19 porch on double console brackets with
lattice infilling. Windows are double hung sashes with small panes and C19
casements with small panes. The south flank has a C19 red brick lean-to with a
machine-made plain tile roof. A C17 red brick stack with joined diagonal shafts
rises against the south wall. This has a pointed arched brick inglenook. The
eastern crosswing has a simple crown post roof with thin braces. The west
crosswing has 2 panelled C17 doors and some similar wall panelling with carved
frieze. The north fronts of each crosswing have arched door heads and arch
headed shopfronts, now concealed by plaster. RCHM 15.
