Farmhouse, mid-to later C17; altered and enlarged in later C18. Coursed
sandstone rubble with quoins, stone slate roof with brick gable chimneys.
Two-bay end-baffle-entry plan with very large front outshut. Two storeys;
original front on north side has doorway at left end with straight
dripstone over the lintel, remains of a single round-headed light to right
of door, inserted 2-light casement above; the rest of the front is covered
by a deep outshut addition under a catslide roof, the very low front wall
of which has a 3-light casement and a 2-light sliding sash with glazing
bars. Right gable wall, partly covered by damaged wooden lean-to, has
remains of blocked chamfered mullion windows with hoodmoulds; 2 and 3
lights at ground floor, 3 and one at 1st floor, and 2 lights in attic.
Rear wall altered to make a symmetrical facade with inserted central door
(under glazed lean-to porch), has 2 windows at ground floor and 3 above,
all 2-light casements with large run-out stone heads and sills. Interior:
large housepart inglenook has massive moulded stone heck with a crudely
moulded cap, straight bressummer with small chamfer, C19 iron
oven-and-boiler range; 2 large beams with stopped 1/4-round moulding;
similar beam in parlour; roof of 2 collar trusses with windbracing to 2
pairs of trenched overlapped purlins, wattle-and-daub infil in the 2nd
truss.
