Inn. c1800, with later C19 alteration and extension; further extension in
C20. For the Wykeham estate. Dressed sandstone to front and right side;
coursed rubble sandstone to left side and rear; timber eaves course; pantile
roof. Central-entry plan, 2 rooms deep; rear service wing added before
1850. 3-storey front, of 3 recessed, round-arched bays. Central door of 6
flush panels beneath radial fanlight, in plain round-arched surround. 12-
pane sash over door. Ground and first-floor windows in flanking bays are
tripartite sashes; segment-headed 6-pane sashes to second floor. End stacks
at base of hipped roof. Rear: radial-glazed staircase window to right of
centre. Interior: closed-string, dogleg staircase rises through house to
second floor. Moulded handrail ramped-up, with reeded balusters, and some
re-used C18 turned balusters between first and second floors. Moulded
plaster cornice to staircase hall and ground-floor passage. Doors of 6
raised and fielded panels. Ground-floor room to right has fireplace with
moulded surround and fluted cornice, flanked by alcove cupboards with
panelled doors. Moulded dado rail.
