Cornmill and attached house. Early C19 with later C19 alteration and
extension. Sandstone with quoins; pantile roof with brick stacks.
2 storeys and attic, 2-window front to house, with 2-storey, 2-window right
extension of equal height; mill forms projecting cross wing at left. House:
4-panel door with divided overlight, to right of 16-pane sash. 8-pane
sashes to ground floor far left and above door; 12-pane sash to first floor
left. 3-light, large-pane central horizontal-sliding sash to attic. Stone
sills to all windows and lintels to ground- and first-floor openings. End
stacks. Extension has later Cl9 3-window canted bay with large-pane sashes
to ground floor. 12-pane sashes, with stone sills and lintels, to first
floor. End right stack. Mill: 12-pane sash to ground floor, slatted window
to first floor, square opening to attic. Stone sills and lintels to all
openings. Hipped roof, with weathercock at rear. Rear of mill has a stack
of boarded lifting doors to left of pivoting windows with stone sills and
roughly-tooled lintels. Remains of the collateral low-breast wheel survive.
It was driven by the race leading from a mill pond created by a weir at the
confluence of Cropton Beck and the River Seven.
