Gates, screen wall and balustrade. 1841-5. By William Burn for
Sir Christopher Turnor. Ashlar, wrought iron. Central double
gates flanked by low stone walls bearing 4 panels of pierced
railings, terminating in square panelled piers with moulded
cornices and urns. The gates have pierced and scrolled rails
with openwork paterae and twisted finials at top and bottom of
railings and the lower parts of the gates are rectangular
openwork panels. The square gate piers are pierced with paterae
and ogee finials. The gate overthrow is elaborate with foliage,
pinnacles and at the centre the initial "CT" for Christopher
Turnor. The low stone balustrade with turned shafts links the
right hand end of the gate screen with the main house.
