Obelisk. 1847. Probably by William Burn. Ashlar, sandstone and
limestone. The obelisk stands on 2 deep steps and has a square
base with scrolled plinth and cornice. In the east side is a
square slate panel with moulded ashlar surround, recording that
it was built in 1847 by Charles Turnor, Prebendary of Lincoln, in
honour of Sir Isaac Newton who was born nearby at Woolsthorpe
Manor.
