Large house. Early C17. Thinly-bedded coursed squared and dressed
limestone with large finely squared and dressed limestone;
concrete tile roof; C20 brick stacks on the stumps of former
ashlar stacks. Rectangular main body. Painted brick extensions,
glazed lean-to entrance and l½ storey limestone extension, not of
special interest. 2½ storeys and attic. Symmetrical twin-gabled
garden front with two 4-light ovolo-moulded mullions with king
mullions and stopped hoods to the ground floor; matching 3-light
windows to the first floor; matching 2-light casements to each
gable; single-light casements with ovolo-moulded surrounds,
projecting sills and moulded hoods above. Central plank door with
a single glazed pane within a moulded Tudor-arched surround with
carved spandrels and stopped hood within a C20 gabled stone-built
porch. Four 2-light stone-mullioned casements with ovolo-moulded
mullions and stopped hoods to the right gable end, some retaining
C18 leaded panes. Similar windows, now blocked, concealed by later
extension to the west gable end. Roadside front: central gable
with 2-light ovolo-moulded stone mullioned casement with stopped
hood; roofline of contemporary extension, now demolished, below.
Projecting stack and gable-end stack to the main body. Stepped
gable-end coping with roll-cross saddles. Interior not inspected.
