Barn. c1800. By John Foss of Richmond. Coursed rubble with ashlar
dressings, stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 1:3:1 bays. Chamfered quoins.
Central 3 bays project very slightly, with chamfered quoins. Ground floor:
bays 2 and 4, board barn doors in elliptical-arched ashlar surrounds with
keystones. Bays 1, 3 and 5: round-arched recesses containing part-shuttered
windows below monolithic chanelled wedge lintels. Impost band links all
openings. First floor: square openings with lattice shutters in ashlar
surrounds with cambered lintels. Hipped roof. Rear elevation: flush
quoins. 5 board doors in ashlar surrounds with impost blocks, those in bays
1, 3 and 5 round-arched; those in 2 and 4 flat-headed. Vents formed by
vertical stone slates. Left return, ground floor: shuttered opening in
round-arched ashlar surround with keystone; first floor, opening as at
front. Right return, ground floor: door in opening as on left return, with
pitching door above.
