House, now council offices. c1830, restored late 1980s.
Sandstone ashlar with a slate roof. Double-depth plan with the
doorway and rear wing to the right and a large shared gable
chimney stack to the left. 3 storeys above a basement, which
still gives on to an area, and 2 bays with a sill band on the
first floor. The doorway, in the right-hand bay and approached
up 6 steps, has a plain surround and a simple pediment carried
on fluted consoles; the door is recessed and has 9 raised and
fielded panels under a plain overlight. All the windows have
plain reveals and have glazing bar sashes which were inserted
as part of the restoration works. To left of steps to door,
bar railings with a handrail which is ramped at the top and
terminates with an acorn finial at the bottom. The basement
area is protected by slightly different railings with a gate
on the left, leading to a flight of steps.
