Manor House, now 2 dwellings. A A on tablet, probably remodelled in
1733
1771, with inter alterations. Subdivided and extened to rear in late
C19. Sandstone ashlar with pantile roof. 3 stacks, 2 stone and
1 rebuilt,rendered brick. Originally a 3-cell through-passage house.
2-storey, 5-window front. Raised and chamfered quoins. No 20 retains
original doorway with boarded door and rectangular fanlight. 4-pane
sashes with plain sills and lintels to left and above: to right, an
inserted canted bay. No 21 has C20 inserted door and C20 single pane
swivel windows to right and above, all with square, raised architraves.
Both doorways and extreme right windows have a moulded cornice above the
architrave. Date stone in square, raised architrave in upper floor
between the 2 houses has corresponding tablet beneath, probably
recording the later remodelling, and thought to block a former fire
window. Moulded eaves cornice, and stone coping and moulded kneelers.
To interior: No 20 upper room to left has early C18 raised and fielded
panelling on all 4 walls. Also carved stone fireplace and overmantel in
the form of a picture panel flanked by fluted pilasters with cornice
above. Ground floor to left has overmantel carved from a single stone
slab consisting of an oval between 2 rectangular panels. Moulded beams
are visible in all 4 main rooms. No 21 has no major features of note.
