House. Late medieval open hall house at SE heightened in late
Cl7, 2-storeys extensions to N and W Cl7, N lean-to brick
extension late C18 or early C19, 2-storey brick block in the NW
angle mid C19. Timber frame on stucco plinth, roughcast with red
brick replacing parts of ground floor on E. Red brick lean-to
and mid C19 block. Steep old red tile roofs. 2-storeys
agglomeration with entrance on E. The SE wing has 2 windows on
each floor and 4-panel door to right. Ground floor windows flush
box sashes with moulded architrave and 6/6 panes. Flush C20
windows to 1st floor. N extension set back to right has 2 flush
small-paned pivoting windows to 1st floor and 3-light flush
casement window on ground floor with boarded door in heavy frame
under tiled porch in the angle of the wings. Large internal
gable chimney to SE wing and rear catslide outshut. External
gable chimney to N wing. SW extension has a flush-box casement
window on each floor with moulded architrave and 8/8 panes.
External W gable chimney. Brick NW wing provides an entrance
hall, parlour and stair hall with bedrooms over. 2 recessed sash
windows with 8/8 panes to 1st floor. Similar window under
segmental arch to left of 4 panel moulded door with rectangular
fanlight and 2 steps under a light metal canopy. Floor beams
inserted in hall have elaborate chamfer-stops with a bar and
small notch. C18 fireplace in SW extension with moulded marble
shelf. Jowled posts and straight braces in NE wing, with face-
halved bladed scarf joint in wallplate. (RCHM Typescript).
