Conyers monument. Marble, with twisted balusters, a C17 feature, and a winged cherubs head, a C18 feature. The shield between the broken pediment has lost most of its paint and gilding, but is possibly a field Or for Conyers and a field Azure for Bateman. -To the memory of Edward Conyers late of Blaston Esquire, who departed this life 15th Oct 1701. And of Sarah his First wite the daughter of Matthew Bateman of white Chapel in the county of Middlesex Esquire, who dyed March 21st 1700. And of Sarah their only daughter and child who was married to Baldwin the eldest son and heir to Sir John Conyers of Hordern in the Bishopric of Durham baronet and deceased April 13th 1697, all three being interred near to this placein hope of a joyfull Resurrection. His second and surviving wife whom he married August 31st 1701 was Mary daughter of Sir Roger and Sister of Sir Erasmus Norwich of Brampton in the county of Northampton Baronet-. -Numbers 13.10. Let me bye the death of the Righteous and let my Last end be like his-.
